Conventional Llotion Polymerization of Organosilicon
Conventional lotion polymerization is to directly add silicone monomer, acrylate monomer, water-soluble emulsifier and water-soluble initiator to water for reaction. The stable silicone modified acrylate lotion was obtained by direct copolymerization of octamethylcyclotetrasilane and methacryloxypropyl Trimethoxysilane with acrylate, and the effect of different feeding methods on the stability of lotion was investigated. The results showed that only semi continuous feeding could obtain lotion with good stability and uniform particle size. The silicone modified acrylic acid copolymerization lotion was synthesized by conventional lotion polymerization using reactive emulsifier sodium alkyl vinyl sulfonate (DNS-86) and silicone monomer, and the surface tension, stability and rheological properties of the lotion were investigated. The results show that the surface tension of the silicone acrylic lotion decreases with the increase of the amount of silicone monomer, and the apparent viscosity of the lotion decreases with the increase of the content of silicone, and it has good freeze-thaw stability and storage stability.

Soap free lotion polymerization is a new technology developed on the basis of traditional lotion polymerization. Soap free lotion polymerization refers to lotion polymerization in which no emulsifier is added or only a small amount of emulsifier (less than Critical micelle concentration CMC) is added in the process of polymerization. By avoiding the introduction of emulsifiers, soap free lotion polymerization overcomes the disadvantages of traditional lotion polymerization, such as too much foam, easy to bleed out and absorb moisture, which is caused by the inability of emulsifiers to remove, so that soap free lotion polymerization can obtain latex particles with clean surface, improve the transparency of the film, and improve the density, adhesion, water resistance, optical and electrical properties of lotion film.

The presence of small molecular emulsifiers in organosilicon acrylate lotion polymerization will reduce the density, water resistance and physical and mechanical properties of the polymer film, and cause environmental pollution. To solve the above problems, soap free lotion polymerization is adopted, that is, emulsifiers with reactive functional groups or capable of participating in the polymerization reaction are used in the polymerization process, so as to completely eliminate or only use a small amount of emulsifiers in the usual sense (whose concentration is less than the Critical micelle concentration CMC), thus eliminating the negative effects of conventional emulsifiers. The lotion prepared by soap free lotion polymerization has many incomparable advantages over traditional lotion polymerization, such as excellent water resistance, solvent resistance and chemical inertness, so it has attracted much attention in recent years.
